Early Life
From Troubles to taxes
Andrew grew up in Belfast during The Troubles. It was a difficult time for the country, and he suffered personal tragedies at a young age, experiencing an IRA bomb firsthand and losing a family member.
Andrew’s life turned around when he moved to England to study finance, aged 18.
Glazing Success
Turning it around
Andrew started out in the glazing industry in 1986, becoming well-known for restructing Cambrian Windows Ltd – a struggling fabricator.
Andrew grew the business from £1M to £12M in turnover within 4 years before he was bought out by a US Fortune 500 company.
Founding Purplex
Starting from scratch
After spending most of his Cambrian profits trying to rescue a failing business, Andrew had to start over in 2004.
He built Purplex from the ground up – the first brick in a new marketing and property empire that would expand over time.
Founder of the Ascot Group
Andrew is founder of the Ascot Group, which includes Insight Data, the UK’s leading provider of business data and market intelligence for the construction and glazing industry.
The Ascot Group also includes Knightstone Property – a development company with residential and commercial holdings which include the Purplex offices.
Through his investment arm, Ascot Ventures, Andrew is also a regular investor in startup and seed capital projects.

Andrew has a hands-on approach, with that rare ability to combine creative thinking with strong analytical skills.
At Purplex, he oversees the strategic direction of client accounts, working closely with senior managers. Andrew is also dedicated to sharing the knowledge he has accumulated over a lifetime of running businesses.
He regularly mentors entrepreneurs outside of the Ascot Group and offers useful advice to the Purplex team. Andrew fosters a community spirit at the company, and several members of his family work for the Ascot Group.
