We're a force for good in our local area, and beyond!
We go beyond the usual CSR…
Purplex supports local and regional charities, and we contribute significantly to the local economy. We’re working hard to put Worle on the map as the next tech capital of the UK!
We recently helped Somewhere to Go – our local homelessness charity – with a new campaign video.
But it’s not the only way we’re helping out this charity. All the profit from our vending machines goes into an annual donation for the charity. Beyond this, we also help them with pro bono marketing strategy, website creation and regular large donations of food, alongside other essentials like clothing and sleeping bags.
In 2024, our sponsored athlete, Lele Nairne, went to the Olympics as a judo champion.
We were proud to sponsor her career as an independent athlete from our local town. The whole Purplex team watched as she took on another world champion at the Paris Olympics. It was a tense match, and Lele put in a great show but didn’t quite make it through to the next round.
Gympanzees is another regular recipient of our funding. They’re a local charity, building play facilities for children with special needs.
Within an hour of Bristol lives 90,000 young people with disabilities, and Gympanzees was founded to improve their lives. They provide facilities which allow regular play, exercise and friendship for children with disabilities. This boosts their mental health and wellbeing, while supporting their families.
Our CEO, Andrew Scott, has worked with local schools, supporting education, marketing and management.
Purplex has close ties with many local schools and colleges, and we work together on a number of initiatives. For example, Andrew opened an Alan Sugar business centre at a local school, was a judge at a Dragons Den style competition at another school, regularly presents school awards and gives inspirational talks to students. Andrew is often supported at these events by other members of the Purplex team.
We believe that Worle is well-positioned to become the UK’s next tech hub. And we’re creating the jobs to make it happen.
Situated on the edge of the M5 motorway, with a mainline railway station just minutes from our offices, and an international airport a short bus ride away, Worle is very well-connected.
But beyond the transport infrastructure, the local population is expanding rapidly, with large new housing developments, and an increasing number of people moving here from the city of Bristol. We even have a beach just 15 minutes down the road!
In 2009, Purplex employed just 5 people, but now over 100 work here. We have plans for further rapid expansion, and the support of our local MP.
